Requirements
If you want to qualify as a solicitor, then the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requires you to attend this skills
based course before you can be admitted. You must have satisfactorily completed the Legal Practice Course before you attend
the course, and if you are required to enter into a training contract, the PSC should be attended during your training contract.
Particular cases
-
You may be exempted by the SRA from the requirement to enter into a training contract, e.g. a FILEX. If so, you may wish to attend our
“Fast Track” course (see Course Dates for Core and Elective Modules) held in July of each year. In addition, you will not normally be required to attend the elective element of the course.
-
You can also apply to the SRA to exempt you from particular elements
of the course, for example, on the basis of your past experience in practice .
-
You may have just finished the LPC, sat all the assessments, but have not yet received your results. You are still entitled to attend the LPC, but if you fail any
of the LPC assessments, your attendance at the PSC will not count.
If you think any of the above applies to you, you should check your particular circumstances with the
SRA – website: http://www.sra.org.uk or telephone 0870 606 2555, 09.00 to 17.00 Monday to Friday)
